Congratulations on another school year for your child! Second grade is a momentous occasion in the Catholic Church as your child has the opportunity to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. If you desire your child to grow in the faith and enter deeper into initiation into the Catholic Church, we are happy to accompany you through the process here at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
In order for a second grader to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion here at St. Anastasia:
What if my child is not baptized?
If your child is not baptized, please make arrangements by calling your parish to request Baptism. Your child's Baptism must be completed prior to your child receiving First Holy Communion at St. Anastasia If you belong to to St. Anastasia Catholic Church, please call Mitzi at our office or go to our parish website to fill out the Baptismal Registration form. The due date of Baptism completion applies to all families.
What if my family is not Catholic, but would like to learn more about the Catholic faith?
Please call the Parish Office and speak with Mitzie to to inquire about the seven Sacraments and the process to receive these gifts from God (for both the adults and children).
What if we are Catholic but do not belong to a Catholic parish yet?
You must be registered with a Catholic parish to receive Sacraments. The parish you will register in will became your "home parish." That will be the place where all your sacramental records will be filed over the course of your faith journey. If you do not have a "home parish" and would like to join St. Anastasia Catholic Church, we would be honored to assist you in this imporant journey. Please call Mitzi at the Parish Office or go to our parish website.
What if we belong to another Catholic parish other than St. Anastasia Catholic Church?
It is your responsibility to communicate with your parish priest or the parish office to seek further guidance and direction regarding the Sacraments you desire.
If you would prefer your child to receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion with their St. Anastasia class (many pastors would prefer their registered families receive in their home parish), it will be your responsibility to seek permission for your pastor.
The pastor (of your church) will need to write a letter to the pastor of pastor of St. Anastasia (Fr. Richard George), giving his permission for your child to receive their Sacraments at the parish of St. Anastasia.
Please note that some parishes (St. Mark, St. Bernadette, St. Lucie) do not grant permission for their parishioners to receive the Sacraments at St. Anastasia.
