Thank you for your interest in your child receiving the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist! The Church teaches us that “the principal fruit of receiving the Eucharist in Holy Communion is an intimate union with Christ Jesus" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1391)
We are reminded of the words of Jesus: “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” (John 6:56)
At St. Anastasia, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are intricately linked. The preparation process includes:
Child’s preparation for the Sacraments at St. Anastasia School or in Family Faith Formation on Sundays
Retreat for parents to renew a personal devotion to the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist
Retreats for parent and child to experience a deeper appreciation of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist
Reception of First Reconciliation in February and reception of First Holy Communion in May
The typical age for receiving First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion at St. Anastasia is 7 (2nd-3rd grade), but all those from ages 8-13 are welcome to participate.
